Secrets in Death

I was very happy that there was the mention of Magdalena as I have wanting to hear that she was escorted off Roarke’s property.  That was a very enjoyable bit of information.
I do agree that there was not enough on the actual killer.  The first victim was not someone we could like but it seems that the jump to the actual killer was too soon as I would have preferred to have Eve sweat him out in Central while he stonewalled.
    Still I enjoyed the book.

If I can post my point on how I kinda understood the rushed ending, when he first got introduced, he was basically a rabid guard dog who was close to breaking his masters leash and too bad on Eve for not catching that short leash sooner until the second victim got killed. Hell I’m surprised that Bill didn’t attempt to move past Roarke to make a try at attacking Eve again because he struck me as someone who had the potential balls to do it. I guarantee you that had he done it, Eve probably would’ve had to stun him (not fatally of course).

So that’s the point I’m making, that guy was just too rabid like a dog who didn’t want to stop barking, he didn’t even have the patience to wait for his lawyer to shut him up.

To change from the topic of the ending and the killer, I’d like to talk about something that was mentioned almost in passing.

Nadine mused about the idea of taking on an intern or protege and Eve said she had someone in mind but neither of them pursued it. When it came up I was wondering on who Eve was thinking of and then it struck me. She might be thinking of Quilla from Concealed. She wants to be a writer and she was exceptionally nosy. As long as Nadine doesn’t mind using a minor for an intern, I think she’d be perfect.

    I think Quilla’s around 16 ain’t she?

    Doesn’t mean she can’t intern. as a part-time job.

Realistically speaking, Roarke did say that their new shelter would be completed by spring, I don’t think Quilla will be re-introduced until after Dark in Death because I think the Academy Awards will still be involved in the next In Death.
